Day 1 - 1 Corinthians 6:1-8

Read 1
Corinthians 6:1-8

How do our actions within the church affect our ability to
minister to the outside world?

How do we show the world Christ, if we don’t have him
amongst ourselves?

We are going to spend eternity with our fellow
Christ-followers. In what ways do we often forget to treat each others as
brothers and sisters, as people who are going to be together forever?

Allowing oneself to be cheated and wronged is extremely
difficult. Jesus’ life and death were both ones of self sacrifice for the sake
of others. If he would rather be killed than kill others, how should we see our
own lives? How should his willingness to be wronged inspire the way we live
today?

Day 2 - 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Read 1
Corinthians 6:9-11

“…the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God…” Is this hard for you to take? I
question the compassion of any Christian who has never at least struggled with
it. What part of it do you find difficult? Pray about that. Furthermore, seek
out Godly counsel and diligently study the scriptures regarding this. God can
give answers to those who are truly willing to seek him with trusting patience.

Are you still struggling with any of these things (…or all of these things…)?
God has washed us and called us clean. What worldly things do you need to let
go of?

Many of us have much to work on and mature through. However, it is also
important to acknowledge where God has already carried you. Reflect on the
journey and all that he has taught you. Look back and without arrogance boast
in how great God’s grace is. If you are just now starting the journey, think of
all that he has done to get you back on track. Think of where he is leading
you, and the godly man or women that he is forming you into. How great is our
God and his power to stir the hearts of his children?

Day 3 - 1 Corinthians 6:12-13

Read 1
Corinthians 6:12-13

We are allowed to
enjoy the fruits of this world. Food tastes good. The question is, where is the
line between eating food, and allowing food to devour you? Money may be
incredibly useful for providing for a family or for missions, but when does
money begin to control us, and not the other way around? What is the line?
Where is the line in your life?

The text says that
God will eventually destroy these things. What is the difference between
temporary things and eternal things? What things are worth devoting ourselves
to and finding our identity in, and what things are not worth it?

Day 4 - 1 Corinthians 6:13-18

Read 1
Corinthians 6:13-18

Read through
Ephesians 5:25-33 and Genesis 2:24 and look at Gods original plan for marital
oneness.

The author continues to hammer home his rebuke of sexual
immorality. It is not just another sin…it cuts deeply to the utter core of a
person. When we sin sexually we are destroying the plan that God laid out for
marital oneness in the very beginning in Genesis 2:24. We are meant to become
one with a single person, not to give ourselves away to the world.

Sex in Christian discussion is usually cast in a
negative light. It’s always about rebuke and impurity and working through
issues. We often lose sight of God’s incredible plan for a fulfilling, vulnerable, passionate
love relationship. Though dwelling on the future too much in this area can lead
to sinful fantasizing, it is important that we know and have hope in God’s
beautiful design for us. His plan is something we must keep our eyes on in
order to become the men and women we need to be to sacrificially serve and love
our future spouses. In what ways are you preparing to be the person you need to
be to take care of and love another?

Day 5 - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Read 1
Corinthians 6:19-20

God created us, sustains us, provides for us and dwells within us. We are
not our own. We belong to him. What should this indicate about the way we use
our bodies or our time or gifts or money? Are there any areas that need
improvement in your life? What do you imagine your life would look like if you
were honoring God in these ways with your life and your body? What are some
practical steps you can take towards this?

This verse is intense. In a real sense, our sins are a sin
against God’s temple. How should this change the way we see sin?

Background Information

Chapter 5 was full
of harsh rebuke. Chapter 6 is no different. But also like chapter 6, one can
sense the underlying passion the author has for his readers. He desires that we
grow in maturity so that we can live a full life of love; love for the world,
love for our Christian brothers and sisters, and love for God.
